THE MEDICAL SOCIETY/ALLIANCE ENDOWMENT FUND
---FOR HEALTH RELATED PROJECTS---

Objectives:

  1. To provide a permanent and growing fund in the name of the medical community for health related projects.
  2. To promote awareness of health related needs in our community.
  3. To demonstrate the continued commitment of the medical community to the betterment of health and to enhance its health care role.
  4. To provide a vehicle for various means of charitable giving both within and from outside the medical community.
  5. To serve as an avenue of partnership between the Society and the Alliance.
  6. To return a gift to our community for the many opportunities it provides for our families.

Original Proposal:

It is suggested that a pool of capital be assigned to a named endowment from the Guilford County Medical Society/Greensboro Branch and its auxiliary. If a two for one formula were agreeable, the Auxiliary would contribute $5000 from its treasury and the Society would contribute $10,000.

The funds would remain in perpetuity and could be added to by any amount from any source from time to time.  Gifts, memorials, bequests, and other donations as well as monies from fundraisers would increase the original investment.  The principal is not to be invaded. The interest from the principal would be available for grants to worthy causes in the community that fall within a health related scope.

The Foundation of Greater Greensboro could serve as the fiscal manager of the Fund.  Investment and accounting become the responsibility of the Foundation.

An advisory group composed of Society and Auxiliary members would determine the recipients of the grants and would number three from each. They would act under advisement of their respective general membership.  If we join in association with the Foundation of Greater Greensboro, the chairman would then take the advisory group’s recommendation to the Foundation’s Distribution Committee for final approval.
